About Ridolfo

Profile

The Ridolfo Group is made up of four service-focused companies, employing over 150 Western Australians. The Ridolfo companies are:

Intercon Millar Logistics – delivering specialised transport, warehousing and distribution

Western Poles Company – suppliers of treated natural and modular composite poles

DGR Diesel Services – heavy vehicle repairs and fleet maintenance specialists

Ridcon Properties – leading developers of commercial and industrial properties

The combination of these companies makes the Ridolfo Group a truly integrated and specialist multi-industry provider, capable of servicing the complete needs of any customer.

History

The Ridolfo story began in 1957, when the power utility then known as the State Electricity Commission of Western Australia required significant quantities of hardwood jarrah poles to construct power lines. Vince Ridolfo took the opportunity to become the main supplier of these poles, locating suitable, long straight timber, harvesting it from the forest, debarking the product, and finally loading and transporting finished poles to their destination.

Vince started out with just a single truck and a reputation for hard work, reliability and resourcefulness. The need to transport the poles was how the Ridolfo family was introduced to the challenging business of logistics, where efficient customer service was as important then as it is today.

After incorporation in 1967, the next decade saw V & D Ridolfo Pty Ltd building a large fleet of trucks and depots in Perth, Sydney, Darwin and Singapore. The company’s Heavy Haulage Division boasted the largest low loader in the Southern Hemisphere.

The Ridolfo organisation also built dams, logged timber, and owned and operated the largest private gold mine in Australia. The Ridolfo family itself operated a sheep and cattle farm, and even opened a restaurant – called, naturally, Ridolfo’s – in Perth’s vibrant Northbridge district.

From this hardworking and diverse foundation, and with carefully planned generational succession, the Ridolfo family business has moved successfully into the world of modern logistics, supply-chain management, construction, transport and automotives. Ridolfo’s people have a critical understanding of the important role the company’s history plays in its overall culture and success.
